By Peugeot decided to acquaint us with renewed family 308, as disseminate photos and information on the hatchback, wagon and convertible model. This happens three weeks before the official debut of the cars in Geneva. The most significant visual change occurred in front of the Peugeot 308, where we see the new bumper, grille, headlights and integrated LED daytime running lights. The model has also received new wheels and some other minor details, and for the interior are provided for more colors and fabrics. The Peugeot’s engineers have paid great attention to the engine range, which offers 308, they have improved their fuel efficiency and also reduced the fuel consumption and emitted CO2 emissions. It is important to mention that all units already meet EU environmental requirements Euro5. The most interesting modification is undoubtedly equipped with so-called micro-hybrid system, including 1.6-liter diesel engine delivering 112 h.p. power, start / stop system and robotized transmission. The company disclosed that the car will have 98gr/km CO2 emissions. Sales of renewed Peugeot 308 in Europe will start in April, except with the micro hybrid powertrain, the car will still be available with four petrol and four diesel engines with capacities between 92 and 200 h.p.

As we know from about an year, Peugeot is working hard on a hybrid version of the model 3008, which will be available in spring 2011. and is the first production model in the world whose propulsion system will combine diesel and electric motor. The diesel engine is the 2.0-liter (163 h.p.) and used to power only the front wheels and the electric (37 h.p.) serves to drive the rear axle and maintaining systems in the car. The maximum torque is 300N m at first and the second – 200 Nm. Which means that the hybrid system has the general power and torque respectively 200 h.p. and 500 Nm. Until all modifications of the Peugeot 3008 is offered only with front-wheel drive, 3008 Hybrid4 actually represented the first drive to all four wheels, although it is not equipped with any of the familiar 4×4 systems. The car has four modes of driving. In Auto the system considers any combination of engines to use, ZEV is entirely electric, 4WD is combined, and for Sport is unnecessary to say what is its function. Note however that the 3008 Hybrid4 can cover all electricity only 4.5 km. The hybrid Peugeot 3008 boasts excellent energy efficiency, according to his company’s average fuel consumption is 3.8l/100km. And CO2 emissions only 99gr/km. However, acceleration from 0-100 km/h going for 8.8 sec and the maximum speed reaches 209 km/h. These indicators would not be possible without a second generation of start / stop system and regenerative energy from braking.

PSA presents the progress of their project, “Green Materials”, which aims to reduce the harmful effects of cars on the environment throughout the period of their operation. We are talking about an ambitious plan for eco-production, in which 20% of polymers will be made of ecologically clean components by 2011. Note that a car is 70% methane, which is already fully recycled, 20% plastics (polymers), 5% liquid and 5% other materials, including glass. Ecologically clean materials include natural fibers such as flax and hemp, recycled and nonmetal biomaterials (derived from renewable raw materials rather than petroleum products). Their use allows to reduce the amount of plastics to outweigh the parts to reduce CO2 emissions during production of plastics and to encourage recycling of plastic components. Given the decline of natural resources on the planet, their optimization is necessary. End of life vehicle is prepared from its creation by facilitating the recycling of parts. Thereby limiting environmental pollution after disuse of the vehicle. At least 85% of the mass can be reused and recycled, but still allows 10% energy recovery.

Given the constantly increasing traffic in cities and fuel prices, the cars of the future must necessarily be compact, economical and can carry as many passengers. the Concept BB1, presented by Peugeot at Frankfurt, is characterized precisely by the above-mentioned qualities. It is extremely compact (only 2.5 meters long), driven entirely by an electric motor and it has room for four people.
