The French company Peugeot has decided to present the new model 408, which will replace the current 407, not well at home in faraway China. PSA presents the progress of their project, “Green Materials”, which aims to reduce the harmful effects of cars on the environment throughout the period of their operation. We are talking about an ambitious plan for eco-production, in which 20% of polymers will be made of ecologically clean components by 2011. Note that a car is 70% methane, which is already fully recycled, 20% plastics (polymers), 5% liquid and 5% other materials, including glass. Ecologically clean materials include natural fibers such as flax and hemp, recycled and nonmetal biomaterials (derived from renewable raw materials rather than petroleum products). Their use allows to reduce the amount of plastics to outweigh the parts to reduce CO2 emissions during production of plastics and to encourage recycling of plastic components. Given the decline of natural resources on the planet, their optimization is necessary. End of life vehicle is prepared from its creation by facilitating the recycling of parts. Thereby limiting environmental pollution after disuse of the vehicle. At least 85% of the mass can be reused and recycled, but still allows 10% energy recovery.

Besides all the new model RCZ, of the Peugeot stand at Frankfurt will be exposed and its conceptual hybrid version and a compact crossover in 3008. Interest in both cars is that their hybrid systems are not composed of petrol and electric motor, and of diesel and electric. As we know, the use of diesel units in Europe is widespread and in some countries they occupy to 60 percent market share. This, and the huge experience that Peugeot have with this type of engines, the company is an inducement to have recourse to this version of the hybrid system. Data show that in 3008 the concept HYbrid4 paid only 99gr/km. CO2 emissions, and RCZ HYbrid4 – 95gr/km. Hybrid systems combine in themselves Hdi 2.0-liter engine with a power 163 h.p. and electric motor generating 37 h.p. Both unit can work both separately and simultaneously for maximum efficiency.
